Deputy Winford Odel "Mickey" Pattillo died as a result of a traffic accident. Deputy Pattillo was on patrol June 6, 1969 in southwest Bexar County when his patrol vehicle struck a 1500 pound Bull. The accident happened on Pearsall Road as Deputy Pattillo’s vehicle topped a hill. Deputy Pattillo’s partner, Reserve Deputy Larry Cheever, 22, was treated for abrasions. Deputy Pattillo, who died at a local hospital on June 9, 1969, was a veteran law enforcement officer.

Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Ann Pattillo and one son, Mickey Odel Pattillo.  Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park.
