Deputy Aguilar died as the result of a gunshot wound on June 30, 1985.  Deputy Aguilar was returning to the Bexar County Jail from Medical Center Hospital where he had been assigned to guard a hospitalized prisoner.  He had been notified to return to the jail, and was in the process of exiting Interstate 10 at Santa Rosa Street, when he was shot by an assailant from the passenger side of a passing automobile.  Deputy Aguilar, 21, was dressed in his uniform and driving his personal vehicle.  He was found with a gunshot wound to his back.  He died several hours later.  There were no witnesses to the crime, and the death of Deputy Aguilar has never been solved.  Anyone with any information should contact the Bexar County Sheriffs Office at (210) 335-6000.
